It seems like everything fun to do has been cancelled due to the pandemic—for people who live alone, even getting together with friends and playing board games is out of the question.

Fortunately, we live in a digital age which means playing board games doesn’t require everyone to be in the same physical place.

These are the five best board games you can play—physically and digitally—to enjoy your time in quarantine.

5: UNO

The classic card game that has facilitated family feuds as often as it has fond family memories. The card game is pretty simple to pick up—the first person to play all their cards wins.

The game can be played with the physical deck—which consists of 108 cards—or online via the app.

4: Exploding Kittens

Another card game that is pretty easy to pick up and play; the rules are simple—if you draw the exploding kitten, you’re out. The person left after all the exploding kittens have been drawn is the winner.

The game can be played with the physical box of cards—which also has an expansion pack—as well as the mobile app, which offers a few app-exclusive cards to keep things interesting.

3: Pandemic

While it could feel a little too “on the nose” to play pandemic, while self-isolating during a pandemic, the game actually offers an uplifting way to raise people’s spirits as they team up to fight a pandemic.

It can be played using the physical game board, as well as online via an app, which is available on the App Store and Google Play.

2: Code Names

A word-association game, Code Names is played in teams as one person tries to get his/her teammates to guess the words on their secret file—the only catch is they’re not allowed to use the words they’re trying to get their teammates to guess.

Whichever team guesses all their words first wins.

The game can be played using the physical board, as well as an unofficial version that’s hosted online.

1: Clue

The classic whodunit, where players have to work together and separately to gather clues and figure out who the murderer is.

The original game has been around forever and has many variations—including a kids version involving a stolen dessert—and it now has a virtual app, available on the App Store and Google Play, that lets players solve the case from wherever they are.
