5) Riddle Room

This Toronto escape room is also a board game cafe, so you can hang out after your escape! What’s really cool about this place is that their escape room options keep changing – there’s always something new, exciting, and kind of creepy here. Right now, they have one game about a mysterious castle, one about a missing girl, and one about a missing twin.

4) Alcatraz Escape Room

This place in Hamilton offers four creepy escape rooms. Here’s the kicker – one of them is Alcatraz themed! The 50-minute escape from Alcatraz has a story that’s all about getting out of the iconic jail. The story is that you are bunked in a jail cell with a criminal who has been planning their escape. The warden moves them, but you’re left with all of the escape blueprints for the prison cell. Your challenge? To escape before the warden comes back!

3) Escape Casa Loma

Here’s a series of escape rooms located at Casa Loma you won’t want to miss. The iconic, five-acre Toronto landmark boasts three historically-themed escape games: Escape from the Tower (it’s 1941 and you’re part of an undercover Anti-Submarine Detection Research Center_, King of the Bootleggers (Toronto, 1920s, all about prohibition!), and Station M (you stumble upon a soon-to-be decommissioned station right after a war).

2) Wizard School Escape

Calling all Potterheads – Wizard School Escape is Harry Potter-themed! This escape room is in Oshawa, and here’s the story: you’re a wizard (I know, dream come true) and you’ve been cursed to no longer have powers. You have one hour to regain your powers by boarding a train to the school, sneaking in past the caretaker, and, finally, finding the the antidote. This experience is for 4-10 people and players must be aged eight and up. Stay tuned for Oshawa Escape Rooms’s next Harry Potter themed game, too, called Privet Drive, and it’s coming soon!

1) Black Creek Pioneer Village – Where the Dark Things Dwell

Your daytime school trip just got a whole lot creepier with their brand new nighttime escape game, Where the Dark Things Dwell. This working 1800s village will immerse you in the world of 1867 like it did when you were 10, but this time, with a twist. This escape game in North York requires you to break a cult curse that’s taken over the village. Here’s the story as described by Secret City Adventures: “Stopping in the sleepy village of Black Creek for a night’s rest, you and your fellow travellers find yourselves trapped as strange cultists work to awaken an ancient evil force. Now it’s up to you to stop the cultists’ curse. You must save the remaining villagers and discover the great incantation to stop the evil from rising and escape the village before the final bell tolls.” Not recommended for children under 13!
