5 Wineries to Visit Outside Brampton

Whether you want to try the reds and the whites, experiment with a rose or an icewine, sip your way through a weekend, or just feel like you’re on Game of Thrones with a glass of locally-produced red, a visit to a winery is a relaxing way to cap off the summer.
Of the abundance of wineries across the province, we’ve narrowed it down to five that you should definitely pay a visit to outside the city. Experience the events and the wine tastings, take a walk through the vineyards, and get a little tipsy during a day trip or even a weekend getaway.
Here are five wineries to visit outside Brampton.
This relatively new winery in Picton boasts “easy drinking” wines – affordable ones for everyday drinking. They began planting wines in 2000, were able to open a tasting room in 2014, and finally added a yoga studio and a loft just this year – definitely a relaxing destination. They have classic wines like their Dog House Red and their Dog House White, as well as rieslings and pinots. This place even offers delivery across the GTA.
This quaint Niagara winery practices eco-friendly farming, has won awards for their vineyard and agricultural practices, and vinifies approximately 5,000 cases per year. Winery tours are available by appointment with the owner, wine-maker, and grape-grower David Johnson, so you’ll really get an up close and personal, down-to-earth experience trying the wines here. Their vineyard is a stunning 23 acres of rolling hills on the Twenty Mile Bench along the Niagara Escarpment.
If you’re looking for an awesome package deal, a fancy winery experience, and somewhere to stay the night, the Picton-based Huff Estates is your spot. They have an onsite hotel so you don’t have to worry about having one too many glasses of wine that day, a two-night wine and dine package, and even a wine tour in a Rolls Royce. Two massive vineyards surround this place, and you’ll definitely want to try the rose and the pinot gris. Check out this relatively new winery for a classy experience.
Located in Kingsville, Pelee hosts events like live entertainment nights, vintage wine tastings, and even painting classes. They have a wine tasting tour adventure where you can explore the island, wines for every taste from VQA (made with 100 per cent Ontario grapes) reds and whites, to a VQA bird series with pinots, merlot, and shiraz, to sweet, pink, bubbly wines for lighter tastes. Pelee is Canada’s warmest and southernmost appellation.
Konzelmann is Niagara’s only lakefront winery! They’ve got every kind of wine you can think of and then some, from red to white to sparkling, and even icewine. The family-run Konzelmann Estate started in Germany in the late 19th century, settling on the shores of Lake Ontario in 1984, where the climate is reminiscent of Alsace, France, according to owner Herbert Konzelmann. With regular, daily tours, and their wide variety of wines, Konzelmann is somewhere you don’t want to miss – and be sure to try their classic peach wine before you leave.
