A Brampton Man and His Co-Workers Enjoying a Big Lottery Win
A group of 7 from the GTA and Hamilton is celebrating after winning $124,406.50 from the August 31, 2016 LOTTO 6/49 draw. The group matched five numbers plus the bonus number to win a secondary prize.
The group members are:
Daniel Clark of Brampton
Brian Wilcox of Burlington
Andrew Dos Santos of Ajax
Avtar Gurm of Richmond Hill
Kathryn Lucas of Hamilton
Stephen Singer of Toronto
Theresa Murphy of Burlington
"We are all colleagues and we've been playing as a group for two decades," shared the group while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where they picked up their winnings. "A few members have already retired but we continue to play as a group, mostly LOTTO 6/49."
Group leader Brian purchased and validated the winning ticket. "The day I found out about our win I was at the store to pick up groceries. I asked the retailer to scan my ticket. The terminal froze. It said, 'Big Winner!' That's when I froze! I couldn't stop shaking."
Brian received a call from OLG at the store. "That's when I found out how much we won. I couldn't wait to tell everyone in our group. I left the store and emailed the members. All I said was, 'I have news - please call me.' One by one, I spoke with each group member. It was so exciting and everyone was ecstatic!"
Each group member has different plans for their share of the windfall, but they also plan to enjoy their win together. "We will be celebrating the win with a wonderful lunch," they concluded.
