While Brampton is already on the map for a number of reasons, it’s always exciting to hear that films and television shows have been filmed in our city.

According to the City of Brampton, one new film did indeed have scenes (or a scene) filmed right here in Brampton.

The 2017 Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig-starrer Downsizing — which was released on December 22, 2017 –actually filmed here!

Downsizing is about a couple that decides to shrink themselves in a new experiment to create mini-communities, which will increase environmental friendliness since everyone is about five inches tall, and have other benefits like increasing wealth.

Basically, the mini-characters get to indulge in lavish lifestyles.

While the film takes place in Omaha, Nebraska, Alexandar Payne’s sci-fi comedy drama started photography in Ontario officially on April 1, 2016.

Here in Brampton, the City issued a Film Permit to Mega Omaha Films Inc. for April 29, 2016, which included a Road Occupancy & Access Permit to park production vehicles on Kenview Blvd. and Parkshore Rd., the City has been able to confirm.

According to Film Brampton, the parts that were filmed there were at an unspecified Private Distribution Warehouse.

Some even say Matt Damon was spotted in Brampton back in 2016!

Looks like we’re famous.
