It’s no secret that Brampton and Peel in general has a big and bustling retail scene and pretty much all the stores you could hope for.

It’s no secret that Brampton and Peel in general has a big and bustling retail scene and pretty much all the stores you could hope for.

That said, there’s always room for one more–especially when that one is the first of its kind in the area.

People who have the travel bug (and this time of year, who doesn’t?) might be happy to hear that travel retail company Paradies Lagardère recently announced that it partnered with TripAdvisor to launch a brand new travel essential store at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The store, located in Terminal 1, offers what shoppers might expect from a TripAdvisor (which is reportedly the world’s largest travel website) store. In addition to offering travel essentials, the very first TripAdvisor branded store also features a large, interactive screen that travelers can use to learn more about Toronto and the surrounding area.

With a tap, shoppers will be able to access the latest TripAdvisor reviews and traveler photos for nearby hotels, attractions, restaurants and more.

“Paradies Lagardère works with its airport and brand partners to create enhanced customer experiences and stay on the cutting edge of offering innovation and technology,” said Gregg Paradies, president and CEO at Paradies Lagardère, in a statement.

“What’s most exciting about introducing the world’s very first-ever TripAdvisor travel essential store is that we’ve incorporated an interactive tool that’s not only entertaining and fun, but is truly useful in helping travelers. This unique store is a great addition to the Toronto Pearson program and an exciting destination for its guests.”

The store will, ideally, make it easier for in-transit customers to pick up travel essentials and do a little bit of planning, effectively marrying shopping and interactivity and giving shoppers a slightly more diverse buying experience.

Who knows–perhaps people will take to a store that offers both sunscreen and resto recommendations.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Paradies Lagardère and extending the reach of the TripAdvisor brand into the Toronto Pearson International Airport,” said Nicole Brown, senior director of Brand Partnerships, TripAdvisor, in a statement.

“The TripAdvisor travel retail store concept allows us to further our mission of helping travelers worldwide plan and book the perfect trip by offering them a convenient way to purchase all the travel essentials, as well as quick access to our more than 570 million reviews and opinions on 7.3 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions via innovative in-store touchscreens.”

Paradies Lagardère says the partnership with TripAdvisor began in 2016.

The company will will introduce three more TripAdvisor concepts in 2018 in Raleigh–Durham International Airport (RDU), George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston (IAH), and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).
