A Weather Warning is in Effect for Brampton

See all that white stuff falling from the sky?

Spoiler alert: It’s not here yet but it’s definitely en route, just in time for Christmas morning.

And there are least two schools of thought on this matter: Be careful what you wish for (*self-righteously sips hot chocolate from window*), or yesssss, now I get to open gifts and roll around in the driveway before shovelling until I pass out but not before drawing hearts on neighbours’ windshields (for the Gram).

So here’s the deal.

Snow is coming, and lots of it.

Environment Canada is predicting total amounts of 15 to 20 cm.

A snowfall warning is in effect for Mississauga, Brampton, and Toronto.

Persons in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions,” reads the statement issued at 5:46 a.m. by Environment Canada.

A Texan low is gathering strength this morning and will race towards us later today,” an earlier statement reads.

It will transport snow into the Greater Toronto Area late this afternoon.

The snow will become heavy at times this evening, enhanced by a heavy snow band off of Lake Ontario. Visibility is expected to be limited, making travel challenging.”

Snowfall is predicted to taper off overnight.

Cold, brisk winds on Christmas Day “will likely create some local blowing snow as well.

Travelers are encouraged to adjust their plans if possible.”

So far, things at Pearson airport are calm.

Sunday’s predicted high is -2 C with a low of -6 C.
