Inbrampton.com previously mentioned several movies and TV shows that were filmed in Brampton, and given how the Toronto area has become somewhat of a hotspot for film and television production, it’s probably not that big of a surprise.

Which is why another interesting TV series was just shot in this city.

The Handmaid’s Tale is an American web television series with three seasons. Based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, this series is set in a totalitarian society, which is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state. In an attempt to repopulate, the few remaining fertile women are forced into sexual servitude. One of these women, Offred, is determined to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her.

The Handmaid’s Tale has received many awards including eight Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama.

The show has been filmed in multiple cities across Ontario including Toronto, Hamilton, Cambridge and Vaughan. Recently, the show was filmed at Brampton’s Claireville Conservation Area.

Claireville is a massive expanse of land off of Highway 50 that’s great for a classic outdoor photoshoot. It’s huge – around 848 acres – and covers land across four cities, including Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto, and Vaughan. The area is a natural landscape that sits on the West Humber River and is often called an urban oasis, boasting wetlands, valleys, forests, dirt roads, and grasslands.

What do you think of having this interesting and unique show just shot in Brampton?
