Brampton Could Get its Own Mini Tunnel of Lights

If you were in downtown Brampton on Saturday, you might have noticed some cute holiday lights creating a small light tunnel of lights in McArter Lane.
If you were in downtown Brampton on Saturday, you might have noticed some cute holiday lights creating a small light tunnel of lights in McArter Lane. It looked great – and very festive – and now, a more permanent lighting installation might be coming to downtown Brampton.
Beautifying the downtown core has been high on the City’s priority list for some time now – downtown Brampton is set to change forever with major upgrades to the streetscape, including more sidewalk space, better lit underground parking, and even new benches.
This past Saturday, November 4, the City held a “Laneway Lab” event from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., where McArter Lane was transformed into a hub for art, music, conversation, and entertainment. The event was decorated with a lighting installation where festive lights were strung between the buildings in the Lane, as seen in over cover photo.

The string lights in McArter Lane were installed temporarily for the Lab. Residents used “#BramptonDreamer” to showcase their experiences.

“This pilot event was intended to demonstrate that laneways are more than just spaces between buildings,” a representative from the City told inbrampton.com

Brampton’s laneways are definitely spaces worth exploring – “come downtown and experience the spaces between” was actually how the event was marketed. The small spaces between buildings are great opportunities to host events and display art, which the city often already taken advantage of through events like the Lab and Party in the LANE.
“In cooperation with the neighbouring businesses, the City is currently looking into options for a more permanent lighting installation,” said the City.
So, the cool mini tunnel of lights may indeed make a comeback and remain permanently in Brampton’s laneways (ideal for the ‘gram!).
