Have you ever wanted to break a Guinness World Record? It looks like a fellow Bramptonian just did!

On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, Bramptonian Matthew Hayley broke the Guinness World Record for the furthest distance travelled on an indoor go-kart track in 24 hours.

That’s right — Hayley spent 24 hours driving a go-kart at Formula Kartways in Brampton just a few days ago with bathroom and stretch breaks.

The previous world record was 733.68 kilometres held by Trey Shannon of Charlotte, North Carolina. To beat it, Hayley had to drive at least 3,940 laps.

Hayley beat it by a landslide, driving 772.29 kilometres in 4,102 laps within a 24 hour period.

This wasn’t all on a whim — Hayley was motivated to raise $5,000 for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. The goal was surpassed and Hayley raised $5,070.
