Brampton Man Charged Committing and Filming Sexual Assault

A Brampton man is facing charges in connection with what police are calling a historic sexual assault.

A Brampton man is facing charges in connection with what police are calling a historic sexual assault.

According to the Caledon OPP, officers were notified of a sexual assault on May 8. According to police, the alleged assault took place on Feb. 16, 2016 in Caledon.

Police say that, at the time of the incident, the female victim was being driven to the Caledon area by a Brampton man who was known to her. Another male was also present.

The victim told police that the two men assaulted, sexually assaulted and stole items from her while inside the vehicle.

Police say the men recorded their actions.

Now, 21-year-old Brampton man Harjit Singh Bhatti has been charged with sexual assault, publication of an intimate image without consent, voyeurism, two theft-related offenses, assault and extortion.

A 19-year old Scarborough man, Kartik Sanjay Karkare, is facing the same charges.

Police are asking anyone with any information or who may have had similar contact with the accused persons to contact Provincial Constable Mark Quinton of the Caledon OPP at (905) 584-2241 (or toll free at 1-888-310-1122).

Anyone with information who wishes to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Residents can also submit information online at www.peelcrimestoppers.ca.

Anonymous tipsters will not be required to testify in court and proffered information may lead to a cash reward of up to $2,000.
