Brampton is a city that’s full of diverse talent – from rappers, to singers, to bands, and more.

Brampton is a city that’s full of diverse talent – from rappers, to singers, to bands, and more. And some talented Brampton performers are going to take over an iconic Toronto stage for a very popular festival soon.

On June 15, 2018, Brampton musicians will get a chance to perform onstage at Rivoli, a restaurant, pool hall, and concert venue at Queen Street and Spadina Avenue as part of the This is Brampton showcase.

The showcase is actually part of an even bigger event. This is the first time that Brampton artists will get exclusive rights to a Toronto stage as part of North by Northeast (NXNE).

NXNE is a 10-day music festival boasting free concerts and events at Yonge and Dundas Square and across the city, where many bars and clubs remain open until 4 a.m.

“On the heels of Alessia Cara’s Grammy win, Jessie Reyez’s JUNO Award, and induction of Brampton’s Arts Walk of Fame notables Exco Levi and Hotline Bling’s Director X, Brampton continues to forge its way onto the global music scene as a hotbed for emerging talent,” reads a recent statement from the city.

And if you’re any kind of musician in Brampton, this might be your chance to shine.

“The City of Brampton is calling all local musicians, recording artists and bands to participate in this exciting showcase for an opportunity to gain valuable exposure that could help catapult their music careers to the next level, and join in the celebration of Brampton-pride.”

Recording artists and bands can find more information on how to apply here. Applications are due on April 27.

It’s true that Brampton has one of the youngest and most diverse populations in Ontario, so this might be an awesome chance to show off your musical talent, or head out and see emerging talent from Brampton at the event.

This year, NXNE is happening from June 8-17. Thousands of acts have performed at NXNE over the years, so Brampton artists could earn some major points.
