Although most foods and products are safe, some edibles and items slip through the cracks and when they do, it’s good to be aware so you can fix or avoid them.

Here’s a list of products with recall notices.

Various brands of pie and tart shells

Mom’s Pantry / Jim & Leonie brand 3” unsweetened tart shells and 9” unbaked pie lids have been recalled due to possible E. coli O121 contamination. Consumers should not consume the recalled products described below. Additionally, Health Canada reminds citizens that it is not safe to taste or eat raw dough or batter regardless of the type of flour used, as raw flour can be contaminated with harmful bacteria.

Sproam brand Cosmetic No-Rinse Body Wash, Shampoo & Incontinent Cleanser

This product, sold in 175 mL bottles, has been recalled because it contains Achromobacter aegrifacienes/insuavis, a bacteria which can pose a risk to people who have certain health problems, such as cystic fibrosis, haematological and solid organ malignancies, renal failure and compromised immune systems. Possible adverse effects can include pneumonia, bacteremia, urinary tract infections, and skin/soft tissue infections.

Child Carriers from Osprey Child Safety Products LLC

This recall involves the “Poco, Poco Plus and Poco Premium” child carriers. The company has determined that a child seated in the carrier can slip through the leg openings, posing a potential fall hazard to children. Consumers should immediately stop using this product and contact Osprey Child Safety Products LLC for instructions on receiving a retrofit seat pad.

Uberhaus brand ceiling fan (model SW52-SN-R5W1)

This ceiling fan may have a manufacturing defect that could lead to injury or property damage in the event of a fire. Two incidents of fan overheating have been reported to Health Canada so far (no injuries). Customers who own this product should immediately stop using it and return it to any RONA location.

Bristol brand Chopped Ham

This food item has been recalled due to the presence of bone fragments, which pose a choking hazard. Consumers should avoid eating this product and return it to the store it was purchased from.

Barbara’s brand Snackimals Animal Cookies

This food item has been recalled due to rancidity. Consumers should avoid eating it and return it to the store it was purchased from.
