A Brampton school went into lockdown after a student was spotted with a gun that turned out to be an imitation firearm, police say.

A Brampton school went into lockdown after a student was spotted with a gun that turned out to be an imitation firearm, police say.

Peel police allege a student was caught inside a school in the Dixie and Octillo area with the firearm around 9:00 am on Nov. 21.

Police say no threats were made and the school was put in lockdown as a result. 

Police say the firearm was retrieved without incident at 9:11 a.m.

The lockdown has been lifted.

Police say the student is in custody.
