Garv Tomar is a high school student living in Brampton. Tomar is an active member of various clubs including DECA, Athletic Council and the Cross Country team as well as the founder of his organization, which works towards bridging the generation gap between youth and seniors.

His debut novel “The Teen Who Became a Monk” dates back to his summer vacation as he transitioned over to the tenth grade. It is based on several books that he has read throughout his life and his experiences.

“The idea for this work of literature first came to me seven months ago when I was introduced to the concept of meditation. This topic had gained my interest because it had taught me a new way of living life, and for a high school teenager with loads of school stress, that was a big turning point. After I had discovered the immensely powerful tool of meditation from my father, I continued to expand on that knowledge and present it to the world in the form of this book, The Teen Who Became a Monk,” says Tomar.

The 102-page book introduces readers to the unfortunate life of Richard, a teenager trying to recover from the trauma of his father’s death. After graduating from high school, he discovers he is unable to pay for his university tuition due to a financial crisis. He soon meets his mentor, Swami Sohai, and goes on to become a monk master.

The book will be published in February 2020 for people who donate to the Kickstarter.
