Police have identified Hamilton’s latest homicide victim as 20-year-old Amy Hager.

Police have identified Hamilton’s latest homicide victim as 20-year-old Amy Hager.

Her boyfriend, Shaun Chiasson has been charged with 2nd-degree murder in relation to her death. Chiasson is scheduled to appear in court Friday (Sept. 25).

Amy Hager and Chiasson lived together, according to police. Her body was found in the couple’s apartment at 907 King St E. Monday night (Sept. 21).

Police say Hager is originally from the Brampton area and her family has been notified of her death.

There have been 11 homicides in Hamilton this year.

At about 9.10 p.m. on Monday, a 911 call was placed regarding a man needing medical attention in the area of King St E and Sherman Ave. 

Paramedics and police responded to the area and located a 39-year-old man in need of medical assistance. One of the officers recognized the man as Shaun Chiasson.

After entering the man’s apartment, police located Amy Hager suffering from signs of trauma. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead.

Chiasson was arrested while recovering in hospital, according to police.
