It’s been a bit of an odd winter so far, with early snowfall happening in November but a relatively green December compared to the norm.

However, colder weather is just around the corner.

According to a recent report from The Weather Network, the transition to colder, more wintry temperatures will happen sometime next month.

“There is still some uncertainty as to when the colder pattern locks into place, but January is expected to be colder than normal across southern Ontario,” the Weather Network states.

While the rest of December will likely see above seasonal temperatures, some light snowfall is expected to bring 1 to 3 cm of snow to the GTA this Sunday afternoon (December 23).

“With temperatures rising a degree or two above freezing, much of the snow is expected to melt aside from a patchy dusting that could survive,” says meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham.

“This lack of snow and near seasonal conditions on Christmas day may be disappointing for some, but will make for another easy travel day, especially in comparison to last year’s major Christmas day snowstorm.”

So, while we’re probably not going to see a white Christmas this year, those who love the cold and snow likely won’t have to wait much longer for it to come around.

Enjoy the weather, Brampton!
