Broadway Stars Set to Hit Brampton This Week

International stars, and, yes, even Brampton stars are set to take the stage in Brampton later this week!
International stars, and, yes, even Brampton stars are set to take the stage in Brampton later this week! So, if you’ve ever wanted to meet a celebrity, support the arts and culture scene in Brampton, or just enjoy a night of Broadway stars and music, now is your chance.
The Broadway stars will take the Rose Theatre mainstage as part of the Arts Alive Festival on Friday, August 25.
Hailing from Brampton, Alvin Crawford is one of three stars that will be featured that night. Crawford has been on Broadway in such productions as Ms. Saigon and The Lion King, where he played the iconic lion Mufasa.
From the Tony award-winning, biggest musical in American history, Hamilton, Syndee Winters is also scheduled to perform, as well as Kate Travis – featured in our cover photo – who currently plays Christine in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.
As mentioned, this is all part of the Arts Alive Festival, a massive arts and culture event that takes place from August 24-26, 2017, at the Rose Theatre, featuring talent from Broadway, internationally acclaimed singers, extraordinary jazz performers, and dancers.

Brampton Music Theatre is organizing the event in celebration of local and professional artists.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect:
Six-time Juno nominee and jazz artist Carol Weisman will kick off the festival on Thursday August 24, alongside a performance from the GTA’s own Shannon Butcher, and the local Jazz Mechanics. And, check out Summer Music in the Park at Gage Park that evening.
A Broadway Spectacular – featuring the aforementioned Broadway stars – graces the stage on the 25th, followed by chamber music by the Bedford Piano Trio.
Finally, the 26th boasts a private vocal class with Travis (Christine from The Phantom of the Opera!), and finally, a Classical Gala if you’re feeling classy. The Gala features such talent as Jean Stilwell, Richard Margison, and Leslie Ann Bradley.
Not to be forgotten – the Brampton Concert Band will also perform at the Gala, and a mass choir featuring all of the singers in the show.
Local, auditioned talent is also featured throughout, so you can see some new talent, too.
Tickets range from free to $45 depending on the show, from free concerts in Garden Square and Gage Park to Broadway stars on the mainstage.
