On the eve of International Women’s Day, the city of Brampton, Zonta Club of Brampton, and Caledon will be hosting it’s first ever event celebrating and honouring women in the community and internationally.

On March 7, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., residents are encouraged to come to City Hall and participate in some marquee activities.

“Brampton is hosting its first public International Women’s Day event to recognize all the important roles women play in our city. This event is an opportunity to celebrate all that women have achieved here in Brampton, across Canada, and around the world,” Mayor Patrick Brown said.

The kickoff will involve a celebratory walk from Daily Times Square into the City Hall Atrium, which will then be followed by music and free refreshments.

While in the Atrium, a number of of speakers will be there to tend to all participating, from a welcome address from Mayor Patrick Brown, Regional Councillor Rowena Santos and City Councillor Charmaine Williams to an interactive session with Margaret Wallis-Duffy of Wallis for Wellness.

Everyone is invited to assist Brampton in honouring all women by posting to their social media platforms (Twitter and Instagram) a 15-word or less short statement about a woman who inspires them, and to use the hashtag #WomenofBrampton.

As an extra incentive, tag @eventsbrampton or @Brampton_Events on Instagram and Twitter, respectively, for a chance to have your content shared on the City’s go-to channels.

International Women’s Day is a globally recognized day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while calling for a more gender-balanced world.

The theme for 2019’s campaign is #BalanceforBetter.
