The City of Brampton announced today (July 27) that it will begin to issue marriage licences by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays.

Previously, marriage licences were being issued on an urgent or compassionate basis only.

To obtain a marriage licence, residents must schedule an appointment here, complete the marriage licence application, print it off and ensure both applicants sign the application. Only one applicant can attend the appointment.

Residents must also bring the completed and signed marriage licence application, along with all required identification and divorce documents to the scheduled appointment.

For all requirements, residents can visit the City’s website.

Marriage licences cannot be issued if any required documentation is missing. Information is available in multiple languages.

The City of Brampton is reminding residents that only limited appointments are available at this time and walk-in appointments are not available.

Civil marriage ceremonies remain cancelled at this time.

All public City counters remain closed to protect the health and safety of residents and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, residents are reminded that under the City’s COVID19- Mandatory Face Coverings By-law, they are required to wear a non-medical mask or face covering when visiting City Hall, as is mandatory in all indoor public spaces in Brampton.

Visit www.brampton.ca for more information and to book an appointment.
