Today, Mayor Patrick Brown announced that the City of Brampton will continue to take important steps to address the COVID-19 situation through the launch of a Senior Support Taskforce.

“To help those most affected by COVID-19, today we are launching the Senior Support Taskforce,” said Mayor Patrick Brown in a video.

This group will be co-chaired by Regional Councillors, Pat Fortini and Gurpreet Dhillon, two councillors with a history of working with senior groups in the community.

“This specialized team will help coordinate access to information and resources that Brampton senior citizens need during this time,” said the Mayor.

Yesterday, Brampton announced the launch of two other specialized task forces in order to support the economy and communities.

These two groups will work closely to coordinate effective responses with the City of Brampton Emergency Operations Centre and City staff.

The first group, the Mayor’s COVID-19 Economic Support Task Force, will be co-chaired by Regional Councillors Michael Palleschi and Paul Vicente. It will be responsible for coordinating recommendations and measures to support business relief efforts in the City of Brampton.

Council will work on these efforts with local stakeholders including the Downtown BIA and Brampton Board of Trade.

The second group, the Mayor’s COVID-19 Social Support Task Force, will be co-chaired by Regional Councillors Rowena Santos and Jeff Bowman. This task force will coordinate recommendations and response to homelessness and food security to provide necessary social supports for Brampton’s vulnerable communities.

“While City Hall remains closed to protect Brampton residents and employees, Council continues to work to ensure we are collaborating to support the local economy and vulnerable communities. Together with our stakeholders, we are committed to minimizing the impact of COVID-19 in Brampton,” said Mayor Patrick Brown.
