You don’t have to leave Brampton to catch this Canadian tradition on stage this holiday season!

If you love the holidays, you’ll be very excited to know that The Nutcracker is coming to Brampton on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.  The show will be performed at the Rose Theatre Main Stage in downtown Brampton.

Canada’s Ballet Jörgen du Canada’s retelling of the story is based on the popular The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffman.

As the holidays roll out in Brampton — the Christmas Market, the Tree Lighting, and the Santa Claus parade all happened this past weekend — it’s always fun to know that even more festive events are happening in our city.

The basis of the story is that a little girl named Klara’s Christmas toy — the Nutcracker — comes alive and must defeat an evil Mouse King.

According to the Rose Theatre, it’s the ballet’s second act that is particularly incredible, “remembered for its celebration of varied dances, and the charming “divertissements” of raccoons, loons, dragonflies and bears demonstrate Klara’s longing for the summer months as she travels excitedly through her dreams.”

The Rose Theatre says that audiences will “rediscover the joy of dance with the show that audiences flock back to again and again.”

Over all, the Rose Theatre draws some incredible shows to its stage and it’s a hotspot for art and culture in Brampton, so it’s no surprise that this classic is coming to the stage.

Tickets start at $40 for adults and $30 for kids 12 and under.
