Good news for drivers who drive electronic vehicles (EV), your apartment and/or office building could be getting charging stations.

ChargeLab, Canada’s leading EV charging software provider, announced they will be providing eligible multi-family and office buildings with EV charging stations for $0 in upfront costs in conjunction with the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP).

However, they won’t be completely free of charge; under the new ZEVIP program, Natural Resources Canada and ChargeLab’s investment are subject to repayment over time based on pay-per-use fees generated by the EV chargers installed.

Additionally, while ZEVIP requires applicants to install a minimum of 20 EV chargers ChargeLab has no minimum for their program.

Further, ChargeLab plans on submitting a joint application to bundle many smaller and medium-sized deployments.

“Transportation is Canada’s second-largest source of greenhouse gases,” Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, said in a news release.

“That’s why our government is working to make it simpler for Canadians and businesses to switch to zero-emission vehicles,” he continued.
