Do you love your colleagues, benefits, or vacation time at your job in Mississauga and/or brag about it to your friends constantly?

Well, you might want to continue with the obnoxious behaviour by posting this on your timeline … or start networking your way into these companies.

The annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers list was released on Nov. 7, and more than one Mississauga employer has made the cut.

“The best employers recognize that they need to innovate thoughtfully to keep moving forward,” said managing editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project Richard Yerema.

“But the challenge is to evolve with changes in technology and employee expectations while maintaining the goal of creating better workplaces that align the needs of their business with those of their employees.”

Mississauga has nine employers – BASF Canada, Bayer, EllisDon Corporation, Hatch Ltd., IMAX Corporation, PepsiCo Canada, Samsung Electronics Canada, and Schneider Electric Canada – on the list.

Our neighbours are also on the list: Oakville has Ford Motor Company of Canada and Siemens Canada, while Brampton is represented by Loblaw Companies.

This year’s competition saw a record number of employers take part in the selection process, with an increased number of applicants from all regions of the country.

Mediacorp editors started by examining the recruitment histories of over 90,000 employers that it tracks for its popular job-search engine, Eluta.ca

From this pool, Mediacorp invited approximately 7,500 employers to submit detailed applications, including a comprehensive review of their operations and HR practices that compares them to others in their industry and region. Employers interested in next year’s competition may also request an application online.

“We are witnessing a remarkable transformation in the nature of work,” said Mediacorp senior editor Kristina Leung.

“Organizations must be open to change so they are able to adapt and make innovation a priority, whether it’s using new HR technology or stimulating employee creativity to find new and better ways of doing things.”

Now entering its 19th year, the Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition is an editorial project that recognizes employers with exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies.

Editors at Mediacorp grade employers on eight criteria, which have remained consistent since the project’s inception:

(1) Physical Workplace

(2) Work Atmosphere & Social

(3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits

(4) Vacation & Time-Off; (5) Employee Communications

(6) Performance Management

(7) Training & Skills Development

(8) Community Involvement

The editors publish detailed reasons for selection and grades for these criteria, providing transparency in the selection of winners and a ‘catalogue of best-practices’ for employers and job- seekers alike.

Together with Willis Towers Watson, Mediacorp hosts Canada’s largest conference for senior-level HR professionals, the Top Employer Summit.

This year’s conference takes place April 4-5, 2018 in Toronto.
