The City of Brampton is now accepting nominations for the Brampton Citizens Awards.

Residents can nominate an outstanding athlete, artist, volunteer or local hero before January 13, 2019, for recognition at the awards ceremony later in May.

The Brampton Citizens Awards recognize residents who have made a meaningful contribution or have had a significant achievement in one of the following categories during the 2018 calendar year:

The Long-Term Service Award

Award recognizes dedicated volunteers who have devoted significant time and effort towards the development and advancement of community life in our city.

The Inspirational Award

Award recognizes Brampton residents who advocate for and/or practise humane action, or who have had an inspirational influence on others.

The Emergency Services Award of Valour

Award recognizes an individual or individuals, who voluntarily risked their own life/lives while performing a heroic act to save the life of another person.

The Volunteer of the Year Awards

Award recognizes Brampton volunteers who have demonstrated all-round community involvement rather than a specific activity or contribution. This award recognizes local residents who build communities and show what can be achieved with passion and determination. Awards are available in two age categories: Adult, and Youth for volunteers under age 18.

The Senior of the Year Award

Award recognizes an individual, over the age of 65, who has made significant contribution to the quality of life within Brampton through specific humanitarian efforts or all-around involvement with community growth.

A Selection Committee comprised of community members will review the nominations to determine those residents who will be honoured at the awards ceremony in May.

The Committee includes individuals with subject matter expertise in the award categories, along with elected City Officials and representatives from Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Brampton Sports Alliance, Brampton Seniors Council and Peel Regional Police.
