EMERGE 2019 : Through Media to Justice
EMERGE is the capstone project for the graduating Media Studies Class of the University of Guelph-Humber. This year, one of the speaker events will explore social media’s role in helping achieve justice and challenging social norms. Attendees hear from several speakers who are experts on this topic and learn how these individuals were able to create real change and achieve justice in their communities simply by means of social media.
Speakers include Holly Jarrett, who started the #AmINext campaign looking at the increase in missing Indigenous Women and the Daniella Baretto, the Digital Communications Coordinator for Amnesty International who has been a part of the #BlackLivesMatterMovement and HIV/AIDS campaigns.
