It’s hard to believe that December–and therefore the holiday season–is in full swing.

At this time of year, many GTA families long to enjoy some truly festive activities outside of their homes and fortunately for those who are looking for something a little different, Woodbine Mohawk Park has some incredible Christmas-themed events on the docket

On Saturday, December 14 and Saturday, December 21, families from all over the GTA can indulge in very special holiday celebrations at the renowned Campbellville, Ontario-based racetrack and recreational facility that’s been hosting pulse-pounding horse races since 1963.

For two days only, Woodbine Mohawk Park is inviting people of all ages to experience the thrill of live, world-class harness racing and an assortment of fun and exciting winter activities.

On both days, the activities–some of which are completely free to enjoy–will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm. Families can also take the time to check out the regular horse races, as Saturday night live racing starts at 7:10 pm.

Parking is free for all guests.

Families who want to get into the holiday spirit can enjoy fun and festive horse-drawn carriage rides all night long, as well as a meet and greet with Santa Claus himself. Attendees can also get a keepsake in the form of a photo with Santa ($10) or indulge in some Christmas crafts geared towards kids.

There will also be strolling entertainers and a kids’ scavenger hunt.

Adult attendees who love to try new drinks can also attend a Beverage Tasting Fridays event on December 13. The tasting is the perfect way for you and friends or colleagues to end the week and get into the holiday spirit. The event, which will run from 6:30 to 7:00 pm, will feature experts and local distributors who will give you some unique insight into the drinks you’re tasting.

The tasting will feature Mill St. Beer. Pre-registration is required, and you can register by clicking here

There will also be special holiday workshops on December 14 and 21. On December 14, you can take a Holiday Centrepiece Making class with Anna Bevilacqua from The Floral Studio. The workshop will allow you to create your very own holiday centrepiece to amaze your guests. You can attend a one-hour session at either 6:00 pm or 8:00 pm and pay just $25 per guest.

If you love baking, you won’t want to miss the Holiday Cupcake Decorating workshop on December 21.

Once you register, you can create a beautiful and delicious treat for the holidays with a special cupcake decorating tutorial led by Woodbine Mohawk Park’s own Stephanie Adams. You can learn how to frost cupcakes, swirl icing and decorate with unique fondant. The workshop costs $25.00 per kit (six cupcakes), and the one-hour sessions will be held at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

Guests can also enjoy a 10 per cent discount at the Terrace Trackside Buffet by pre-registering for a dinner and workshop package (reservations required).
