A GoFundMe has been set up for Dianna Manan, a 16-year-old girl from Brampton who was killed in a hit-and-run in the early hours of January 5.

At approximately 12:20 on the morning of January 5, a driver spotted Manan lying in the street, after being hit by another driver who promptly fled the scene.

She was rushed to hospital, but at 1:23 a.m., it was announced she had succumbed to her injuries.

According to police: “The victim was struck by a vehicle, which then fled the area without stopping to render aid to the victim.”

As a result, Manan’s brother has set up a GoFundMe to raise the money needed for her funeral.

“I’ve created this page to give my sister the proper farewell that she deserves, please help my family in any way you can through this devastating time,” the page reads.

According to the fundraiser’s page, Manan didn’t want to be cremated. “We can’t afford a burial and my sister does not want to be cremated she told me this herself, I just want her to rest peacefully; I don’t want her in pain anymore,” it reads.

It continues: “Everyone has their time on this earth, but I know from the bottom of my heart baby girl you weren’t supposed to go like this.”

As of the time this story was published, 43 people have donated money, and the fundraiser has raised $2,455.
Anyone interested in donating to the fundraiser can find it here.
