The city is gearing up for an exciting upcoming hockey event with a special meeting on Tuesday, April 2.

Wendel Clark, former captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, will be meeting with Mayor Patrick Brown at 12:15 p.m. at the retired hockey player’s namesake restaurant, Wendel Clark’s Classic Bar & Grill.

The meeting is part of a media kickoff for the Brampton Celebrity Hockey Classic, a two-game tournament that offers hockey enthusiasts the chance to play with former NHL greats.

The Brampton Celebrity Hockey Classic will take place on May 16 at Cassie Campbell Community Centre on Sandalwood Parkway West.

Two children from Easter Seals, an Ontario organization that provides programs and services to youth with physical disabilities, will also be speaking at the kickoff.

“The Celebrity Hockey Classic Series is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play with NHL greats! You don’t need to be a super star to participate. Anyone who can skate and wield a stick is welcome,” according to the Celebrity Hockey Classics official website.

“This is your chance to play with friends, family, colleagues and some of hockey’s greatest players. Have fun and raise money for children and youth with physical disabilities across Ontario.”

We’ll update with more on this exciting event as the date approaches.
