With marijuana legalization right around the corner, the Government of Canada has indeed released some mockups of what its packaging will look like in stores.

The federal government aims to legalize pot across Canada on October 17, and in anticipation of the big day, details are being released slowly but surely.

In terms of what the packaging will look like when we see pot on store shelves, it’s set to be incredibly simple and to-the-point – nothing fancy to see here!

Let’s take a look:

All cannabis product packaging will include three main things – the sandardized cannabis symbol, a clear health warning message, and the THC/CBD content.

There are 14 different health warnings, any of which you might see on any given package.

Here are some examples:

  • WARNING: Cannabis smoke is harmful.
  • WARNING: Cannabis can be addictive.
  • WARNING: Regular use of cannabis can increase the risk of psychosis and schizophrenia.

Each warning has a secondary sentence that will also be included on the label.

Other general information such as the class of cannabis, the processor’s information, storage conditions, a packaging an expiry date, and a “KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN / TENIR HORS DE LA PORTÉE DES ENFANTS” statement will also be required.

Of course, it’s what on the inside that counts.
