Whether you’ve encountered someone making unsafe lane changes, failing to yield right-of-way, or even tailgating, there are a few things you can do about it.
Irresponsible and often reckless driving are, unfortunately, more common on the roads than many of us would like.
According to Peel Regional Police, here are some examples of aggressive driving, that can often lead to or be caused by road rage:

- Driving slower than trailing traffic in the passing lane.
- Making sudden lane changes and cutting other vehicles off.
- Failure to use signals.
- Butting into line or parking spaces.
- Driving without paying attention, including talking on the cell phone.
If you witness a driver exhibiting those behaviours, here what police advise:
- Don’t lead the person who is being aggressive back to your home/residence.
- Drive to the nearest police station or to a busy area for assistance.
And if someone approaches your vehicle aggressively? Peel police have some advice for that, too:
- Drive away if you can, safely.
- Don’t exit your vehicle.
- Close and lock your windows.
- Don’t respond to taunts.
- Get a description of the vehicle and aggressor, including licence plate and report to police.
But there is even more that you can do about a pesky aggressive driver.
Peel actually has a RoadWatch program where you can report unsafe drivers”If you witness an incident of dangerous or aggressive driving, please fill out a Citizen Report Form,” reads Peel police’s website.”The form is easy to fill out, anonymous and strictly confidential. You should keep your own safety in mind when you see an incident. Never chase after the vehicle you are trying to report.”Be sure that your form is filled out fully. If you’re reporting a driver, you’ll need the date, time, and location of the incident, as well as details on the driver and the vehicle. The most important part might be the licence plate.After a completed form is submitted to RoadWatch, the plate owner will receive a warning letter.The second time they are reported, they will get a repeat letter and a phone call from a police officer.
And the third time will entail all of the above, plus a personal visit from a police officer.
“Depending on the circumstances, charges will be considered and an officer may be detailed to monitor that vehicle’s actions to allow enforcement if the action is repeated,” reads the website.
