With mild temperatures on Tuesday and overnight into Wednesday, it’s no surprise that the weather is breaking some records.

According to The Weather Network meteorologist Doug Gillham, Tuesday saw an unofficial record-breaking high of 15.8 C, which is actually seasonal for early May. The previous record was 12.5 C in 2016.

As for Wednesday, we’ve had a warm morning as a result of the record high on Tuesday that lasted overnight.
“More temperature records will be set during the pre-dawn hours on Wednesday across the region,” says The Weather Network. “The current record at Pearson for February 21st is 12.9 C and that record is in jeopardy with overnight temperatures in the lower teens.”
That said, rainfall totals are set to reach 40-70 mm or more on Wednesday, and a cold front is set to develop throughout the morning.
Temperatures are expected to drop to near freezing by the late afternoon.
“Thursday will be the coldest day of the week, but it won’t be truly cold for late February with highs near seasonal (0 C).”
The rain is set to persist through the rest of this week, and while February might have a spring-like ending, March is expected to bring back some of winter’s wrath.
The Weather Network has said that a flood outlook is in effect for southwestern Ontario.
But if the temperature is record-breaking…don’t forget to get out and enjoy it if there’s a break in the rain!
