Major Road Closures Coming to Brampton Tonight

With festivals come road closures, and as the tree lighting is happening in downtown Brampton tonight, a few road closures will be in effect starting very soon!

With festivals come road closures, and as the tree lighting is happening in downtown Brampton tonight, a few road closures will be in effect starting very soon!

Whether or not you’re planning to attend Christmas festivities in Brampton tonight, hopefully, this advisory will help you plan ahead. 

Here are the road closures for tonight according to the City: 

Brampton’s Tree Lighting – Friday, November 17, 2017

These roads will be closed from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., on November 17:

  • Wellington Street West from George Street South to Main Street South

These roads will be closed from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., on November 17:

  • Main Street from Wellington Street to Theatre Lane/Nelson Street
  • Queen Street from George Street to Chapel Street

The entire ceremony is slotted for 6-8 p.m. in downtown Brampton, concurrent to the Christmas Market.

You should know that several road closures will be in effect throughout the weekend that might make travelling through downtown Brampton more of a mission than usual. Here are the road closures for tomorrow: 

Brampton’s Santa Claus Parade – Saturday, November 18, 2017

These roads will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., November 18:
  • Ken Whillans Drive from Vodden Street to Church Street East
  • Sproule Drive from Main Street North to Ken Whillans Drive
  • Church Street East from Union Street to Scott Street

These roads will be closed from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., November 18

  • Main Street North from Queen Street to Theatre Lane/Nelson Street
These roads will be closed from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m., November 18:
  • Main Street North from Vodden Street to Theatre Lane/Nelson Street
  • Main Street South from Queen Street to Charolais Boulevard
  • Queen Street from George Street to Centre Street

These roads will be closed from 12:00 to 10:00 p.m., November 18

  • Elgin Drive from Mill Street South to Main Street South

The parade kicks off at 5 p.m. at Ken Whillans and Sproule, and runs along Main all the way up until Elgin, lasting about an hour and a half in total.

Enjoy the tree lighting, but be careful on the roads, Brampton!
