Man arrested following shooting incident in Brampton

A 23-year-old man is facing charges in connection with an alleged shooting that occurred in the City of Brampton.

A 23-year-old man is facing charges in connection with an alleged shooting that occurred in the City of Brampton.

Peel police say that on Friday, November 8, 2019, officers were called to investigate reports that a man had been shot. 

Police say the victim was driving in the Queen Street and Finchgate Boulevard area at approximately 5:05 p.m. when a vehicle drove up alongside his car. Police allege a firearm was discharged towards the driver’s side of the car.

The victim, a 29-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to a trauma centre with non-life threatening injuries. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured. 

On Monday, April 27, 2020, officers arrested 23-year-old Brampton man Ohaje Taitt in the Lakeshore Rd and Parklawn Drive area in Toronto.  

Police allege that a loaded 9mm Glock and a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson were seized over the course of the arrest.

The accused has been charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm with intent to injure, possession of a restricted firearm and other offences. 

The accused is being held in custody for a bail hearing and will appear in court on April 28, 2020.
