Man Arrested in Connection with Sexual Assaults at Brampton Grocery Stores

Peel police have arrested a 67 year-old male in connection with four separate alleged incidents of sexual assault at grocery stores throughout Brampton.

The incidents are alleged to have occurred between August 16, 2016 and November 28, 2017.

On Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at approximately 1:45 p.m., a 30 year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in the parking lot of a grocery store in the area of Airport Road and North Park Drive.

A second incident allegedly occurred at the same location on Saturday, April 2, 2017, when a 55 year-old woman was sexually assaulted.

A third similar alleged incident was reported on Tuesday October 31, 2017, involving a 38 year-old woman who was sexually assaulted while shopping inside a grocery store in the area of Mountainash Road and Bovaird Drive in the City of Brampton.

A fourth alleged incident allegedly occurred on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at that same location, when the victim, a 72 year-old woman, was carrying her groceries and was sexually assaulted in that grocery store’s parking lot.

Police say Somchandbhai Prajapati was arrested on December 6 and charged with four counts of sexual assault.

Prajapati was held for a bail hearing on December 7.

Investigators believe that there may be more victims, and are encouraging them to come forward.
