Peel police arrest shooting suspect, wanted since May

Peel police say they’ve arrested a Toronto man believed to be responsible for a shooting incident in the City of Mississauga.

On May 17, 2019, at 10:32 p.m., police say an altercation took place in “the parking lot of an establishment” in the area of Burnhamthorpe and Wolfedale Rd.

According to police, the “suspect became engaged in a physical altercation with the victim, who was also at the establishment, which then escalated to the point where the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots at a man and woman. The victims did not sustain any injuries as a result of the shots fired”.

Investigators say the suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Thutop Phuntsok, who is facing multiple charges related to firearms.

Phuntsok surrendered to police on Monday, according to police. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton the following day.
