Peel Police Employee Facing Charges Following Investigation

A Peel Police employee is facing charges following an investigation.
According to police, in June of 2018, an investigation commenced regarding the unauthorized use of police databases, to conduct searches on members of the public and the subsequent communication and contact with those members of the public.
As a result of the investigation, Constable Sean Duggan was suspended with pay as per the provisions of the Police Services Act.
And more recently, on May 28, 2019, investigators from the Peel Regional Police Professional Standards Bureau arrested and charged Constable Duggan, a 16-year employee, following the 11-month investigation.
Constable Duggan is facing the following alleged charges: three counts of breach of trust and unauthorized use of computer.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton in July.

“We have a very strict policy about accessing police databases and systems,” McCord said in a news release. “Our officers are bound by that policy and as soon as the complaint was received through the Professional Standards Bureau, I ordered an investigation into the conduct of the officer.”
