A Peel Regional Police officer has been suspended following an altercation with another officer.

Peel police say that on Sunday, Dec. 9, an incident occurred that involved two officers: Sergeant John Rocha and Constable Stephen Dudzinski.

According to recent CityNews report, the incident occurred after Sgt. Rocha questioned Dudzinski's fitness for duty. CityNews says a fight between the two men broke out after Dudzinski presented Rocha with the results of a breathalyser test.

According to the article, the constable punched the sergeant, bloodying his nose in the process.

Peel police Sgt. Matt Bertram told insauga.com that as soon as Chief Evans was made aware of the incident, Dudzinski was suspended from duty with pay as per provisions of the Police Services Act.

Bertram says an investigation into the incident was initiated by the service's Professional Standards Bureau.

No charges have been laid at this time.

"We cannot provide any further details about the incident to preserve the integrity of the internal investigation," Bertram says.
