Police Appealing for Witnesses Following Sexual Assault Incident in Brampton
Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged sexual assault incident that occurred in Brampton.
According to police, the incident occurred in the area of Professors Lake.
On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at approximately 9:45 a.m. a 20-year-old female victim from Brampton was jogging around Professor's Lake.
Police say as she completed her jog, the victim ran through a wooded area on an unpaved trail that separates the paved trail around the lake and the parking lot of the recreational center.
While running on the unpaved trail, the victim tripped and fell to the ground.
While getting up, according to police, a man appeared from the wooded area.
"The man immediately grabbed the victim's waist, and would not let go, she attempted to stop him and kick one of his legs," reads a police media release.
According to police, the man then picked the victim up and dragged her off the trail and into the wooded area.
The man, police say, pushed the victim against a tree.
However, his attempt at any further action was interrupted by a witness walking by causing him to flee the area towards the recreational center.
The suspect being described as a black male in his mid 20s, who is six-feet-tall, with a medium muscular build.
