Police have released the identity of an 81-year-old Caledon man who died after being struck by a vehicle in Brampton.

The OPP reports that on Monday, Oct. 30, officers were called to a collision on Mayfield Road east of Centreville Creek Road in Brampton at 6:40 p.m.

The victim has been identified as Nasib Dhugga.

Mayfield Road was closed between Centreville Creek Road and The Gore Road for several hours while Technical Collision Investigators investigated.

Police say preliminary investigation has revealed that Dhugga was walking across the highway when he was struck by a silver 2011 Mercedes SUV travelling westbound on Mayfield Road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
