Police have released the identity of a 63-year-old man who died following a stabbing incident in Brampton.

Peel police say that in the early morning hours of Friday, August 2, officers were called to the Lanebrook Drive and Devondale Avenue area to investigate reports of a stabbing.

Two victims, a father and son, were found.  

Police say the victims were outside of a residence on Lanebrook Drive when they became involved in an altercation with unknown suspects who were allegedly trying to enter and steal goods from vehicles.

The altercation resulted in both of the victims being stabbed.

Police say the suspects fled the area before officers arrived.

Police say Glensbert Oliver died at the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained. 

His 40-year-old son has since been released from hospital. 

Police say the five suspects are described as black males in their late teens or early twenties.

“The investigation is ongoing and these men are encouraged to contact a lawyer and arrange to turn themselves in,” police said in a statement. 

Police are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen anyone in the area around the time of the incident, or anyone else with information, to contact the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau by calling 905-453-2121, ext. 3205.
