Sandwiches have been around for ages; it’s a reliable staple food that is a reliable alternative if you’re not in the mood for greasy burgers from the “clown” or the “king” (McDonalds and Burger King).

But if you’re not into big sandwich franchises such as Subway or Mr. Sub, then Brampton may have another option for you soon.

Firehouse Subs, with more than 1,000 locations in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, is opening a new location in Brampton.

Specifically, this is in the plaza near Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue (right by the Starbucks) close to Peel Village.

A building permit from the City of Brampton was recently given and renovations have already begun inside.

There are 10 Firehouse Subs located in or near the GTA, in places such as Ajax, Guelph, Oakville, Maple, Milton and Mississauga.

Started by Chris and Robin Sorensen (who came from a firefighting background, hence the name) and headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, Firehouse produces around 1,500,000 sub rolls a week and 8,515,000 pounds of turkey on an annual basis, utilizing ingredients such as Datil peppers.

Subs on Firehouse’s menu include (but not limited to) the Hook and Ladder, the Firehouse Meatball, the New York Steamer and Firehouse Hero.

This franchise location is scheduled to be open on October 30. For now they are taking orders online.
