Potential Flooding Expected Due to Heavy Rainfall in Brampton

in

Residents may want to stay indoors for the time being (although you probably didn't need to be told).

In a statement from the Credit Valley Conservation this morning, portions of Southwestern Ontario are said to be affected by heavy downpours with significant rainfall amounts in a short period of time.

Isolated areas may receive an excess of 50 mm of rain by later this afternoon.

According to the CVC, intense rainfall may result in the flooding of urban areas, areas with poor drainage, or local waterways such as streams and rivers.

High water levels will make it dangerous for kayaking, canoeing, or other similar recreational activities, and residents are urged to stay away from all fast flowing waters.

The CVC will continue to closely monitor the weather and water levels.
