Sadly, Christmas is over–which means we will probably all spend the next three to four months moping at our desks, silently counting down the days until summer arrives.

In the meantime, you might be planning to throw out your Christmas tree–and the Region of Peel has some advice on how to dispose of it properly.
The region says that from January 13-24, it will be collecting real Christmas trees and wreaths at the curb on residents’ recycling collection day.
To set the tree or wreath out for collection, residents should ensure that:
- trees taller than 3 m. (10 ft.) are cut in half,
- all plastic bags, ornaments, tinsel, nails, wire and tree stands are removed,
- trees are not placed in or on snowbanks,
- if you live in an apartment or condo, note that the trees are set at the curb by the driveway entrance to the property and that trees should not obstruct the road or sidewalk.
Residents who miss their collection can also take their Christmas trees to a Community Recycling Centre (CRC).
Trees taller than 3 m. (10 ft.) must be cut in half to be accepted at a CRC. There will be no drop-off fees at the CRCs for Christmas trees during the Christmas tree collection period.
