Big news in Brampton’s arts and culture scene!
You might know him as the director for high-budget videos for such big names as Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West.
Now, yet another incredible Brampton native is being inducted into the Brampton’s Arts Walk of Fame. Brampton has inducted several stars since it began this ceremony in 2014 – 21 awesome Bramptonians in fact.
Director X, aka. Julien Christian Lutz, was born on October 31, 1975 in Toronto and raised right here in Brampton. He went to North Park and Mayfield Secondary schools.

He’ll officially be inducted with an event at The Rose on September 14 at 8 p.m.
The 42-year-old director is known internationally for his work on videos like Hotline Bling and Started From the Bottom for Drake, Gimme the Light and Get Busy for Sean Paul, and Boyfriend for Justin Bieber.
He’s been making music videos for years.
But Director X doesn’t just direct music videos anymore, and he’s done a lot to earn his keep as a renowned director and Bramptonian. Most recently, he released the remake of the 70’s classic “Superfly” in June of this year. He’s also directed the popular Family and Disney channel show “Backstage”.
As for the big event on September 14, there’s a lot going on and you can actually get tickets for the evening.
The evening will include red carpet arrivals, DJs, Live entertainment, and of course, showcases of Director X’s work.
This event will be hosted by artist, and former Brampton resident Kardinal Offishall. There will also be performances by local talent like Haviah Mighty, rapper Fateh Doe, and hip-hop heavyweight DJ Starting from Scratch.
And Director X himself will be there.
It’s no secret that Brampton’s arts and culture scene is booming – there’s so much talent coming from our city. From Russell Peters, to Michael Cera, to Tory Lanez and Alessia Cara, now is the time to pay attention to Brampton!
