Resident calls OPP after Brampton driver flees collision

On October 5 at approximately 8:41 p.m., OPP investigated a fail to remain collision at a Church Street East, Delhi, Norfolk County address.

On October 5 at approximately 8:41 p.m., OPP investigated a fail to remain collision at a Church Street East, Delhi, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that a person contacted police after a vehicle travelling on Church Street East collided with a parked motor vehicle on the side of the roadway. The suspect vehicle was then followed at which time responding officers located the driver and passenger who did not suffer any serious injuries at the intersection of Ann Street and Bell Street.

As a result, police charged 50-year-old Robert Hickey of Brampton with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
  • Failure to stop after accident 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, located in Simcoe at a later date.
