Ribfest Comes to Brampton This Month

The 13th annual Rotary Rib ‘n’ Roll runs May 26 from 5 until 11 p.m., 27th from noon until 11 p.m., and 28th from noon until 7 p.m. at Gage Park.
The ribber lineup includes Jake’s Boathouse, Louisiana Seafood Oyster Bar and Grill, RD’s Southern BBQ, Sul Irmaos Smoke House and Turtle Jack’s Muskoka Grill.
Attendance last year at the event was more than 20,000 over three days.

“Over the years we have had great support from our community, sponsors and our volunteers and we are looking forward to a tremendous event again this year,” says John Sanderson, co-chair of the event for the Rotary Club of Brampton
Ward Funeral Homes will be sponsoring Ward Family Day events on Sunday, which includes entertainment for families with kids on three separate stages, with buskers, bouncy castles and face painters, balloon tiers, clowns, an animal and reptile show and even Zumba.
“We have different crowds throughout the weekend and we wanted to ensure that families with children could be a part of the event. We wanted to create an interactive environment that’s fun for everyone and with the Ward commitment to family, it was a perfect partnership,” co-chair Wendell Brown said.
The festival has music lined up for Friday and Saturday. The lineup includes Sticks and Tones, Fleetwood Nicks , and New Hollywood on Friday; Hidden Agenda, Freedom Train, Elyse Saunders Band, Uptown Express, Runaway Angels, and The Carpet Frogs
On Sunday there will be family entertainment through the day with The Dave Love Band, The Dave Murphy Band and Marc Joseph Band closing out at 5:30 p.m. At 3 p.m., there is also a return of the 30 minute live action Disney Princess Show
Admission is by voluntary contribution at the gate. Attendees are asked to donate as much as they can.
Money raised at the event goes to support children with cancer and Rotary’s other charities. Last year more than $50,000 was raised.
“Rotary believes in supporting local business, and we get terrific support from local business as well. The City of Brampton has been a partner with us from the beginning – with support from their Community Grant Program. Key sponsors include, Ward Funeral Homes, RBC Royal Bank, RBC Dominion Securities, Investors Group, Amber Brewery, The Marketing PAD, The Brampton Guardian, The Rose Theatre, MSC Productions, Carl’s Catering, Lawrences, Miller Waste and GMF Transport Ltd.,” says Sanderson.
