Catholic school students will head to school this week as normal, as the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) has announced that they have suspended their rotating strikes for the week.

“Today’s historic strike was an incredible display of the passion and dedication of teachers and education workers across Ontario,” the OECTA said in a statement on Friday.

“At the same time, we have always said that our goal is to negotiate a deal at the bargaining table, and it is clear that our efforts are being effective in forcing the government to work with our Association toward a fair agreement.”

As negotiations are set to continue on Monday, February 24, the rotating strikes that were planned for this week have been suspended.

Parents/guardians are advised to keep checking their school board’s website and social media pages for ongoing strike information.
