Sheridan College will be well-represented at this year’s Canadian Screen Awards.

In 2020, 50 Sheridan graduates have been nominated for awards across 12 categories.

Additionally, Netflix series Blown Away, which features Sheridan’s glassblowing program, has also been nominated for the awards for Best Reality/Competition Program or Series; Best Direction, Reality/Competition, and Best Production Design or Art Direction, Non-Fiction.

Blown Away featured the work of students and alumni of Sheridan’s glass program; Sheridan’s Head of Glass, Koen Vanderstukken, served as a series consultant on the project and Sheridan President and Vice-Chancellor, Janet Morrison, served as a guest evaluator on the project.

“It is an honour to see Blown Away, a series produced in collaboration with Sheridan’s students, faculty, and alumni, receive such critical acclaim,” Morrison said in a news release.

“It’s fitting to see the series recognized by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television since the awards have celebrated many of our alumni over the years. We are so proud of all our alumni nominated for screen awards. Our grads truly are the best ambassadors of the talent our programs nurture, and it’s wonderful to see their influence in Canadian media,” she continued.
