Peel police officers have been cleared by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit after a 27-year-old man was injured during an arrest involving a domestic situation in Brampton.

“The man alone was responsible for his injuries when he decided to take flight from responding officers and fell down some stairs in the process,” said SIU acting director Joseph Martino.
It happened the morning of July 20, 2018.
That’s when officers responded to a domestic incident at a home near Heart Lake Rd and Sprucewood Rd.
When officers arrived, the man left through the back door to evade police.
But he tripped on a railing and fell down the stairs.
The man was transported to hospital where he was diagnosed with fractures to both heels and a dislocated shoulder.
“Accordingly, I have terminated the investigation into this incident,” Martino said.
